I’m a classical musician and voice teacher and I find these songs by Scott Walker as near to classical Art songs as you can get with so much passion and sincerity . He really was unique and I miss him.

Wow! Never heard this before. Such a shame that the series is lost in the midst of time :( But this is amazing. That final note where he really goes for it. 😲Love his speaking voice too and the distinctive way he used to pronounce certain words such as “I”- that made him instantly recognisable.
Peter Knight is very underrated I think - in terms of Scott’s 67’ to 70’ period. It’s kind of unfortunate that the album “Sings songs from his T.V series” is not available. All that album I believe is Peters arrangements. And mighty fine they are too. “Scott 3” from the same year as “Sings songs...” was mostly Angela Morleys work which is of course outstanding, but Peter is on that album too. It would be nice to hear Scott himself talk more about Knights work one day.
I've been a fan of Scott Walker all my life virtually, I have all of his records from the past, but I don't listen to them a lot these days (probably because they are just too powerful) but I am always pleased and amazed to find tracks on RUclips that i have never come across before. What a pleasure. This one above I have played this evening a few times, and assessed that the brilliant, incisive and witty lyrics must be Jaques Brel. True indeed. But I have been reminded once again, to find I am still utterly ASTONISHED at Scott Walker's power of communication. It is pure genius. Is is utterly musical and really hits the emotional core. There are better singers technically - with wider ranges - but there are very very very few singers who can penetrate to the heart of the soul like he does. The very definition of musicality.
